Subsequent owners made a number of changes to the George W. Bush Boyhood Home after the Bush family moved out in 1955. In 2001, the Permian Basin Board of Realtors in Midland bought the house and created the George W. Bush Boyhood Home Foundation to restore it to its appearance when the Bush family lived there. The house opened to the public in 2006 with the first phase of restoration complete.
Early discoveries included brick foundations of the three Burt stores, built between the exterior walls of the gutted house. Excavation of the kitchen established that it had a basement, and a section of this had a root cellar below it. At the juncture of the kitchen's foundations and the stores' was found an 1833 coin, possibly left by the builders to mark their completed work. As the stores' plaster cellar floors were chipped away, older foundations were revealed beneath them. Oney Judge was the personal slave of Martha Washington, and was about 17 when she was brought to the President's House in 1790.

On Tuesday 6 and Wednesday 7 December, Archbishop Peter A Comensoli visited our retired priests at George Maher House in Clifton Hill and at Justin Villa in North Balwyn to celebrate Mass and share a festive Christmas lunch with them. Born in 1946, the first of six children, George W. Bush was five years old when his family moved to the house on Ohio Avenue. One of them, called Blenheim Forge — like the palace except they're based in Peckham — make the most beautiful knives. They're razor-sharp and will last beyond my lifetime, they are that good. Located at 25 Upton Green in the suburb of Speke, the historic house was used as the band’s main practice spot in the late 1950s, with the group known as The Quarrymen at the time. Harrison and his family had initially moved into the home in 1949, when he was just 6 years old.
